Introduction:
Die Ausbildung im Groß- und Außenhandelsmanagement hat in Hamburg eine lange Tradition. Als bedeutendes Handels-, Verkehrs- und Dienstleistungszentrum bietet die Stadt vielfältige berufliche Perspektiven und ist kontinuierlich auf gut qualifizierte Fachkräfte angewiesen.
Die Ausbildung trägt heute die Berufsbezeichnung „Kaufmann/-frau für Groß- und Außenhandelsmanagement“. Grundlage bilden eine moderne Ausbildungsordnung sowie ein zeitgemäßer Rahmenlehrplan, die den veränderten Anforderungen des Handels Rechnung tragen und den Fokus auf betriebswirtschaftliche, digitale und internationale Kompetenzen legen.
Die praktische Ausbildung erfolgt in über 400 Großhandelsunternehmen in Hamburg. Diese sind in nahezu allen Wirtschaftsbereichen tätig und zeichnen sich häufig durch einen hohen Spezialisierungsgrad aus.
Die schulische Teil der Ausbildung wird an der Beruflichen Schule für Wirtschaft und Internationales durchgeführt. Dort werden alle Auszubildenden unterrichtet, deren Ausbildungsbetrieb seinen Sitz in Hamburg hat. Der Unterricht ist praxisnah ausgerichtet und ergänzt die betriebliche Ausbildung durch eine fundierte, zukunfts- und kompetenzorientierte schulische Qualifizierung.

Lesson organization:
Classes in wholesale can be either part-time or in block form. The decision regarding the mode of instruction is fundamentally up to the training companies. However, we can only offer block instruction for enrollments starting in February. Currently, approximately 700 trainees are being taught, with two-thirds in block instruction and one-third in part-time instruction.
Organization of part-time education
The part-time classes start after the summer holidays and take place on two days a week throughout the entire school year. It includes two continuous teaching days with eight and four teaching hours during a school year.

Organization of block teaching
In each training year, two teaching blocks are offered with a total teaching time of approximately 13 weeks. The classes comprise 32 to 34 teaching hours per week.
The block classes usually start at the end of November and are organized according to school holidays, so that the blocks of lessons, which vary in length, fall between the Hamburg holidays. You can find the plans at the link Block plans.
Start of training February 1 (so-called spring classes)
These classes are usually only set up in block lessons after the May holidays. The offerings in the profile area are limited to Business Informatics.
Training content:
The instruction is based on the currently valid training regulations and the training framework plan from December 13, 2019, for the training occupation of merchant in wholesale and foreign trade management (focus on wholesale).
Curriculum of the vocational school
The content of the lessons and the organization of the classes are based on the so-called learning field concept. The training contents are structured into 13 learning fields, whose organization is oriented towards the typical business processes of a wholesale operation. Acquisition of additional skills in the profile area
As a supplement and extension of the field of study classes, additional qualifications can be obtained at BS05 in the profile area. All trainees who begin their training in August must choose a profile.
Before the welcome, there will be an information event for profile subjects. There are certain requirements for some profiles, and the offer is limited for part-time classes (Pt).

The acquired competencies are assessed in the final certificate with a final grade; in addition, the trainees receive a certificate with the competency descriptions.
Technical English
This subject is taught in classroom groups at two levels (B1 and B2). Level B1 (Threshold) is for trainees with the First School Leaving Certificate (eSA) or the Intermediate School Leaving Certificate (mSA).
Level B2 (Vantage) is for students with a Allgemeine Hochschulreife (Abitur) or a Fachhochschulreife (FHR).
In specialized English, students at level B2 can obtain a Europe-wide recognized certificate from the Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK) with an internal final exam.

This certificate is supplemented by a voluntarily taken school internal additional examination in the subject of English (KMK examination) at level B2.
Exam:
In principle, the training is designed to last for three years, with the possibility of shortening it in accordance with the BBiG. Information about shortening or the early examination can be found on the pages of the Handelskammer. Information about the final examination is available here.
Since August 1, 2020, there is the so-called 'extended final examination.' The final examination part 1 takes place in the fourth year of training. If the training contract is shortened or an application for early admission is submitted, the examination date may vary.
The oral part of the final examination takes place about six weeks after the respective written final examination at various locations in Hamburg. Separate invitations will be sent out for this. The invitations for the written and oral examinations are sent by post by the Handelskammer approximately two weeks before the examination date.
As part of the final examinations of the Handelskammer Hamburg, a certificate is issued. It documents the written performance of the final examination and the case-related professional discussion or, alternatively, the project report.

A learning location cooperation is a meeting of all parties involved. It is intended to promote collaboration between schools and businesses and to further develop the quality of vocational training.
