About us<\/h4><\/div>

This is us, the Berufliche Schule f\u00fcr Wirtschaft und Internationales Hamburg (BS05)<\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div>
<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

At our school, about 100 teachers work diligently and professionally with students from different types of schools. Our vocational schools (Foreign Trade<\/a>, E-Commerce<\/a>, and Wholesale<\/a>) operate as partners of the training companies within the framework of dual training. Additionally, you can also obtain the university entrance qualification in the vocational school alongside your training (Dual Plus FHR)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Vocational High School for Business<\/a> starts in grade 11 and leads to the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) in three years.<\/p>\n

The vocational secondary school (BOS) <\/a> offers you the opportunity to obtain your Abitur in just two years after completing a vocational training.<\/p>\n

Young people with a secondary general school diploma have the chance to enter dual education through vocational qualification (BQ)<\/a> with us. Students from the surrounding district schools benefit from our experience in career orientation.<\/p>\n

In our AVM dual classes<\/a> at the vocational preparatory school, students from many different countries learn German and are prepared for the basic and intermediate school leaving certificates.<\/p>\n

In the re-qualification for English<\/a>, we offer young people the opportunity to raise their English to level B1 within a year.<\/p>\n

The quality of the school at BS05 is systematically further developed as part of quality and project management. The initiatives for school development for the current school year are listed in the following representation.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Education in the 21st Century<\/h4><\/div>

Future-oriented education at BS05<\/p><\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The professional world is changing rapidly.<\/h3><\/div>

Digitalization, the rise of Artificial Intelligence, globalization, and new forms of collaboration also pose significant challenges to vocational education. Not only technical qualifications are in demand, but also future competencies such as self-responsibility, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital sovereignty<\/strong>. With the concept of 'Education in the 21st Century', BS05 \u2013 Vocational School for Business and International Affairs \u2013 is developing a contemporary response to these developments.<\/p>\n

At the center of the new learning culture are three pillars: self-organized learning, teamwork, and a well-thought-out support concept. Originally tested under the name 'School 4.0' in the wholesale of BS32, the concept has been further developed based on numerous positive experiences and pedagogical development days and is now being gradually expanded to other educational programs of the school.<\/p>\n

The concept does not start from scratch: There are already diverse approaches to competence-oriented and self-organized teaching in other departments \u2013 such as in preparation for training, foreign trade, and the business high school. These experiences with the merger of both schools are bundled, systematized, and further developed together.<\/p>\n

In self-organized learning, students increasingly take responsibility for their learning process<\/strong>. They set their own goals, reflect on their progress, and actively shape their learning path. This is made possible by larger, coherent learning sequences that focus on working within a learning field. The learners are supported by a dedicated pedagogical team that accompanies, encourages, and targets their support as needed. This creates space for individualization, tailored to pace, interests, and abilities.<\/p>\n

Teamwork plays a central role in both the classroom and the faculty<\/strong>. Learners work together on a project basis, jointly develop solutions, and strengthen their 4C skills: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking \u2013 important building blocks of the so-called Future Skills. At the same time, teachers also work closely together in established class teams, planning and reflecting together, having sufficient hours allocated in the classes, and using co-teaching and tandem models to better support the learning processes. This team structure creates a reliable, cooperative learning environment.<\/p>\n

The whole thing is complemented by a pedagogical support concept with coaching elements. Learners are assigned fixed contacts who support them not only professionally but also personally. In coaching discussions, learning statuses are reflected, competencies are identified, and development paths are made visible. Time slots for independent deepening, repetition, or personal projects promote self-efficacy and personal responsibility. Action products that arise from these processes are documented or presented, making learning visible and meaningful.<\/p>\n

Another important component is the close connection with the world of life and work. Through company visits, expert talks, and collaborations<\/strong> with institutions, the teaching is designed to be practical and experience-based.<\/p>\n

Education in the 21st century is now developing into a shared vision of the new BS05. It combines existing strengths with new impulses - and creates a modern, learning school that empowers young people to actively shape their future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Lived Europe in the heart of Hamburg - the BS05<\/h4><\/div>

The Berufliche Schule f\u00fcr Wirtschaft & Internationales Hamburg (BS05) has a long tradition of international projects \u2013 and actively shapes the future of its students in a European manner as a certified European School and accredited Erasmus+ School.<\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Since 2012, the school has been certified as a European School and has been recertified several times since then:<\/h3><\/div>

Bilingual teaching units, obtaining foreign language certificates, intercultural learning, and project days on Europe-related topics are an integral part of school life. The school regularly participates in events with other European schools, organizes expert lectures featuring Europe specialists, and invites politicians \u2013 for example, as part of the nationwide European project day or in cooperation with the Senate Chancellery. This way, students gain valuable insights into European politics, history, and current debates. The goal is to understand Europe as a common living and working space \u2013 with all its opportunities, challenges, and diversity.<\/p>\n

A central element in promoting the European idea is the numerous international mobilities organized by BS05 as an Erasmus+ accredited school. They provide students from all educational paths \u2013 from vocational school for wholesale and foreign trade and e-commerce to the business high school and vocational secondary school and training preparation \u2013 the opportunity to experience Europe firsthand.<\/p>\n

Learners can apply for Erasmus+ funded internships and projects as well as the certified course 'International Businessman \/ Businesswoman'.<\/p>\n

For the years 2024 to 2026, over 150 mobility programs for learners and educators are firmly planned - including internships, group encounters, job shadowing, and training in Galway, Dublin, Copenhagen, St. Gallen, Ciudad Real, and other European cities. These activities are made possible through the support of our training companies and close partnerships with European institutions and companies, including FEDA Madrid in Valencia, Niels Brock Business School in Copenhagen, ProTandem, Movetia, and the German-Irish Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

The mobilities not only expand the linguistic and intercultural skills of the participants but also strengthen their key professional qualifications \u2013 regardless of their social background. The teachers and the school receive important impulses for the further development of their own teaching concepts in line with 21st Century Skills, particularly in the use of artificial intelligence, digital learning, and innovative examination formats.<\/p>\n

Thus, the BS05 will remain a school in the future where Europe is not only taught but lived every day.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence<\/h4><\/div>

The digital transformation is changing our society and the education system at a rapid pace \u2013 particularly due to the increasing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a future-oriented vocational school, we actively face this development and consciously shape the digital change. Our goal is to train both teachers and students to become competent, responsible users and creators of the digital world.<\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Understand, use and reflect on AI<\/h3><\/div>

We convey basic knowledge about Artificial Intelligence and demonstrate through practical examples \u2013 such as voice assistants or image and speech recognition \u2013 how AI already shapes our everyday lives today. We place particular emphasis on:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • a solid basic understanding of AI and how it works,<\/li>\n
  • the opportunities of AI in education, e.g. through personalized learning paths or automated feedback,<\/li>\n
  • the solution of real problems using AI,<\/li>\n
  • the support of teachers through AI-supported tools for lesson preparation,<\/li>\n
  • as well as the promotion of critical media literacy, such as dealing with fake news or deepfakes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    At the same time, we raise awareness of the risks and challenges associated with the use of AI. These include issues of data protection, the danger of a one-sided dependence on AI tools, ethical considerations, and the need to develop new forms of performance assessment that make the learners' individual contributions visible.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    Digitalization as an opportunity for modern teaching<\/h3><\/div>

    Our school aims to make teaching even more hands-on and individualized through digital media and methods. Learners should be able to learn at their own pace, at their own level, and independent of location and time. In this regard, we focus on:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • creative and varied lesson design through new media,<\/li>\n
    • the adaptation of the content to future professional requirements,<\/li>\n
    • efficient forms of communication, collaboration, and organization,<\/li>\n
    • as well as the relief of teachers through digital exchange and shared knowledge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      A special example is our concept of paperless teaching in selected classes. Here, we not only save resources but also specifically promote the digital skills of all participants \u2013 both among the students and the teachers.<\/p>\n

      In addition, we conduct a course on basic digital skills in all new vocational school classes. This course imparts fundamental abilities in the use of digital tools and enhances media competence \u2013 a central prerequisite for successful learning and working in the digital world.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      14 Jahre Partnerschaft mit Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli \u2013 Tropfen f\u00fcr Tropfen Wirkung entfalten<\/h4><\/div><\/div><\/div>

      Seit 14 Jahren verbindet die BS:WI \u2013 Berufliche Schule f\u00fcr Wirtschaft und Internationales in Hamburg eine lebendige und werteorientierte Zusammenarbeit mit Viva con Agua.<\/p>\n

      Das gemeinsame Leitmotiv lautet:
      \n\u201eWasser f\u00fcr ALLE und ALLE f\u00fcr Wasser.\u201c<\/p>\n

      Viva con Agua steht f\u00fcr weltweite WASH-Projekte (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) \u2013 also f\u00fcr den Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser, sanit\u00e4ren Einrichtungen und Hygiene. Und das Besondere: Engagement geschieht hier mit Freude, Kreativit\u00e4t und ohne erhobenen Zeigefinger.<\/p>\n<\/div>

      Was uns verbindet<\/h3><\/div>

      Sowohl Viva con Agua als auch die BS:WI sind \u00fcberzeugt:
      \nDie Welt l\u00e4sst sich durch Bildung, Sport, Kunst, Kultur und Musik ein St\u00fcck besser machen.<\/p>\n

      Unter dem Motto \u201eJeder Tropfen hilft\u201c ist an unserer Schule in den vergangenen Jahren viel bewegt worden:<\/p>\n

      • \u00dcber 4.500 Sch\u00fcler*innen haben wir mit unserer Botschaft erreicht<\/li>\n
      • Rund 44.000 Euro konnten durch Pfandsammelaktionen mit unseren selbst designten Pfandtonnen generiert werden<\/li>\n
      • Zahlreiche Sommerfeste, Waffel- und Burger-Aktionen, Sport-Challenges und weitere schulische Highlights wurden zugunsten von Viva con Agua organisiert. Mit den Spenden konnten Brunnen gebaut und Menschen der Zugang zu Wasser, Sanit\u00e4rversorgung und Hygiene erm\u00f6glicht werden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>

        R\u00fcck- und Ausblick:<\/h3><\/div>

        Seit 2012 haben wir gemeinsam mit Viva con Agua die Welt Tropfen f\u00fcr Tropfen ein St\u00fcckchen besser gemacht.<\/p>\n
